Working for a nuclear free city
5 track demo review
WFANFC
When you recieve a cd which has the dove picture from the Manchester "City of Peace" sign on its cover you know it could go either way. Working for nuclear free city though are not the tree-hugging peace corp types you'd expect.

These 5 self produced tracks deserve the 'truely innovative new Manchester band award'. Taking the Krautrock blueprint left behind by pioneers Can and Neu WFANFC have combined a fondness for breakbeats, Akai samplers & huge basslines and produced a collection of songs that will have the music biz moguls literally falling at their feet by the end of the year. Opener 'Eighty-eight' sets the scene sounding like the kind of tune the late great Add N to X would be doing these days, spooky electronic vocals and driven by a pounding drum machine.

Elsewhere Arial and Vietnam use Death in Vegas / DJ Shadow beats and production to glorious effect. 'Asleep at the wheel' is a wall of sonic verve/spacemen 3 type guitars. Can't wait for the album.
